This is a router template for trimming brake pads to size for a US MKIII (MK3) VW running Girling 60 calipe and Corrado brake roto, which is a somewhat common upgrade for 93-99 Golf, Jetta, Cabrio though my undetanding is that this setup can work for older VWs too. While this brake setup gets you larger roto on your 4-cylinder MK3, the Girling 60 pads are actually a bit to tall. While you can run them without trimming them, it is a good idea to trim them down. It actually reduces pad wear and pad/rotor heat as well as noise. I used this template with the below router bit: That bit is the right depth and 1/4" shank, which matched the size router I have. WARNING! This creates a huge amount of dust. I would recommend doing the actual pad trimming in a sealed container like a media blast cabinet or somewhere with a really good dust collection system because you don't want to breath that dust in. Depending on the pad material you choose, it is very likely to be carcinogenic at the minimum, maybe woe...
